The event will feature a car and motorcycle show, sponsored by The Pour House, featuring spectacular historic vehicles, such as classic cars, and various types of motorcycles.
The main event will begin at Babcock and end at Lakeside, all along Main Street in front of the Thomas Edison National Historical Park.
West Orange Bike Rodeo
From 9:30 to 11 a.m., the Township of West Orange will host their West Orange Bike Rodeo. What is it, you ask? This is a special safety event that teaches young students about basic safe riding bicycle skills as well as pedestrian safety. The goal of any bicycle rodeo is to provide an opportunity for the participants to learn, practice, and demonstrate their bicycle handling skills in a fun, noncompetitive, safe atmosphere.
In addition to that, students will also get a pre-ride safety check, bike sizing and helmet fitting, as well as learn bicycle handling and safety drills, and instructions on how to ride a bike in a congested traffic area.
All you have to do is bring your bike and your helmet. The Bike Rodeo is for children from Kindergarten through 8th Grade. Please keep in mind that there will be a limited number of free helmets available to participants during the event.
The West Orange Bike Rodeo will be held at Washington Elementary School (289 Main Street), and is presented by the West Orange Pedestrian Safety Advisory Board, West Orange Police Department and EZRide. Waivers are due by May 25. (And, the event will be over in time for participants to attend the West Orange Street Fair.) For any questions, you can email cjacksic@wopd.org or jguarino@westorange.org.
